BIOGRAPHY

Yang Yang acquired his Master's Degree in Film Scoring from Berklee Online, a Master's Degree in Audio Engineering from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast and TV Direction from Shanghai University. He has been working in the media industry for over twenty years and has worked closely with various mainstream platforms, such as Shanghai Media Group, Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, Tencent Video, Youku, Xigua and BiliBili. Programs he has worked on cover a wide array of genres, varying from films, drama series, reality shows, talent shows, talk shows, to advertisements and documentaries. 

 

Some of the documentaries he participated in as a sound engineer and music producer have won awards both domestically and internationally. For instance, the documentary series 'Asia Pacific War Crimes Trials' was the gold winner in the Telly Awards in 2021, and the documentary series 'China's Challenges' won the Emmy Awards in 2016. The documentary 'Tears of the Dragon' won the best current affairs program, 'The Next Pandemic: Are We Ready Yet?' won the best documentary, and 'The Day I Ran China Season2' won the best editing in Asian Academy Creative Awards in 2021. The Chinese version of the US documentary 'One Strange Rock' that he worked on, won the best sound design in the 9th China Academy Awards of Documentary in 2019.

 

His passion for music and sound propels him to bring innovative and inspiring ideas to storytelling.
